APPROACH
Rapidly ideate, design, and validate concepts for three of the Marcel platform’s key applications: People Props, Smart Start, and Work Request. Stakeholder interviews provided insight into current-state workflows and challenges across the organization. These insights informed rapid design and prototyping sprints using the Marcel design system. And, in parallel, maintaining and refactoring that system through ongoing assessment and prioritization of design patterns.
User Flow (People Props, Scenario 01) – People Props provides an interactive, engaging, and public way for peers to recognize each other, thereby fostering a culture of recognition, support, and collaboration. This whiteboard sketch defines a usage scenario wherein Marcel prompts a user to give props to a colleague after a recent collaboration.

User Flow (Work Request) – Work Request manages requests for skilled support services such as research, deck design, and production. It streamlines interactions between account teams and shared resources by matching needs to availability and expertise. This whiteboard sketch defines a scenario in which a user submits a request for help creating a survey to the Research Desk.

OUTCOME
While Marcel’s initial launch in 2018 met with industry skepticism, the team has continued to evolve and refine the product. As of Summer 2020, Publicis begun a global roll out of Marcel to all 84,000 of its employees with initial adoption rates of 72% in the U.K. and 53% in the U.S.
