APPROACH
As part of a major architectural renovation of David Geffen Hall, the home of the New York Philharmonic, design consultancy 2 x 4 created a new visual identity for the building’s digital signage and wayfinding systems. Partnering with media architecture studio AV&C, I led the UX design of a custom CMS that enables Lincoln Center staff to create and choreograph content across dozens of media canvasses throughout the entire building. We began by deconstructing 2 x 4’s designs into their component content types and atomic elements. Based on interviews and workshops with marketing and operations stakeholders, we defined roles, permission, and publishing workflows. Finally, we created a flexible scheduling tool with a range of modalities, from fully automated (based on algorithmically weighted criteria) to fully manual (overriding preset schedules, as needed).
