Media design agency Local Projects contracted me to design an informational and educational web site for the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial in Washington, DC. Designed by award-winning architect Frank Gehry, the memorial will represent Eisenhower’s accomplishments as President and Supreme Allied Commander.
The design objectives for this project were twofold: To provide practical information about the memorial itself and to create an immersive, interactive narrative parallel to the on-site experience. As envisioned by Gehry Partners, the physical memorial is organized around seven Pivotal Moments in Eisenhower's life: His defining accomplishments as a soldier and statesman. The digital Pivotal Moments balance linear narratives and media with opportunities for self-directed discovery. Media artifacts embedded within the main timeline of each section (video, audio, images, historical documents, etc.) provide opportunities for the user to explore each moment in greater depth.
